Six Degrees of Separation

I'm a huge believer in the "six degrees of separation" idea. To be a believer, one has to experience the idea, and I did just that a few weeks ago at work. This is where I introduce Rick to you. Rick works in the I.T. Department where I work. He deals with everything computer that I don't understand. Basically, he's a geek. =)

Rick and his familly are also from small town northern WI. It gets even more interesting when we start talking about northern life and he mentions that he has played with the bands that I grew up going out to listen to and got to sing with on occasion. We were able to excitedly reminisce about all the old band members and where they are now. I'm so excited to have a northern friend who understands where I come from.

Out with the new, in with the old

Some women know their dream wedding dress when they see it, some women know their dream husband when their eyes meet. Me? I knew my dream bed the minute I laid eyes on it in an old house just off Music Row.

A songwriter I know purchased the old house just off of Music
Row to turn into a publishing company/house. I had heard how beautiful the house was so I finally decided to take the tour myself. An amazingly beautiful home built many years ago held my dream treasure on the third floor. Yes, I said the third floor which made for hauling the king-size bed frame down the skinny built stairs very challenging with a headboard over seven feet high and solid wrought iron. This is where I give applause to Nate & Justin. Kudos to you two!!! I can not express the thankfulness to you two for your muscles and diligent effort!

Once home, I had some major restoring work ahead of me as it was solid black iron and starting to show signs of rust. I sanded it down, primed it, and painted it. That sounds simple enough but it wasn't because of all the curling iron patterns. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the final color results which forced me to redo it all again. UGHHH! After much contemplating, I settled on a black underlay with  an overcoat of crackled copper. The bed is exactly how I envisioned it and it looks magnificent!

It's so great to have a king-sized bed and my feet no longer hang over the bottom like my old bed! I sleep like a queen!
